2019 Artist: Laura Todd

"Gray's Lake," by Laura Todd of Laura Todd Art in Des Moines. A 24x36 acrylic.

Laura was a person of few words on her application, so we went to her web site to learn more.

"My greatest goal as an artist is to paint works of art that will make people happy. We hang up family photos, vacation spots, posters of our favorite performers, because when we look at them they give us joy and comfort. If I can create that same feeling from my painting, then my heart is content and the viewers' hearts are full of warmth and love; the love of their city, pet, best friend, favorite superhero or musician, etc.! My joy is to share that joy with others through the gift of art!"

If you head to her web site you will see a piece that will make you fall in love with Aretha Franklin all over again. It's currently on display at The Continental, if you can get there before someone buys it for us for our birthday.
