2020 Artist: Olalekan Oyewole
Just the other day we were asking ourselves: "Selves, just how many people across the planet have people heard about the Waukee Arts Festival?"
Evidently, a lot. We're now an international event. Please welcome Olalekan Oyewole, joining us from Fife-Fife, Nigeria with his beautiful tapestries.
The piece shown here is titled "Conservation." It is silk thread hand-worked and includes over 15 color combinations.
"To project African art, especially my genre of African Tapestry to the world. I create the past. The receding glorious past of Africa and her people and their way of life.I am particularly awed by her beautiful landscape, the tropical lush vegetation ,the round thatched mud huts."
